Putting Space in our Makerspace

Updated: Aug 26

Cape Fear Makers Guild is extremely pleased to announce that, due to the kind generosity of The Church of the Good Shepherd, our Makerspace now has Space. They have agreed to let us use two rooms at their facility at 511 Queen Street, with shared access to a common meeting area, kitchenette and bathrooms. This allows us to have a place to set up and store donated equipment, host workshops and get together with people interested in joining the exciting effort of creating a Makerspace in Wilmington.

Years ago, this same area was used as a day program for the homeless. This eventually evolved into The Good Shepherd Center, one of the area’s leading organizations working to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless and foster transition to housing. We are humbled to carry that legacy with us as we move forward, and strive to be a force for good among people in need within the community.

We moved in and started setting up two weeks ago and couldn't be more pleased. We will be open most Thursday evenings from 6 - 9 pm for Open House / Office Hours and will start having workshops soon. Check out our website calendar at www.capefearmakersguild.org/calendar or follow us on Meetup at https://www.meetup.com/cape-fear-makers-guild-meetup-group/ for dates, times and other details.

Join us as we create a community-oriented Makerspace in downtown Wilmington. Come by and meet our members, see what we're up to and learn how you can help create a place where people can come to create and learn.
