Mission Statement

Cape Fear Makers Guild is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community makerspace in Wilmington, North Carolina that provides a collaborative and inclusive environment for individuals to explore, create, and learn through hands-on projects and experimentation. We strive to foster creativity, innovation, and lifelong learning by providing access to a variety of tools, equipment, expertise and other resources. Our goal is to empower individuals to turn their ideas into reality, connect with like-minded makers, and contribute to the growth of our local community through the power of making.
Our History

The non-profit organization was formed in May 2022. In August 2022, The Church of the Good Shephard kindly offered space at their facility on Queen Street. There, we recruited a core of talented and motivated Makers, received donations of time and equipment, and held public workshops. In January 2023 we moved to our current location at 273 N Front Street, in the heart of Downtown Wilmington. Our Grand Opening was held in March 2023 and since then we've been open to the public for a monthly membership of $40/month. This provides 24/7 access to the space and equipment, and the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from a community of makers.
Our Future

Our first priority is to grow membership and thereby expand the pool of skills and knowledge available to the maker community. This will also provide an important financial backbone to the institution. Soon we will begin pursuing grants to further support our mission and allow for wider inclusion and access to the local community at large.
